This program has two components
Component 1
During a one-and a-half-hour visit, an energy-effectiveness adviser will go over your energy bill with you and give you advice to help you reduce it. A technician will also carry out some light work aimed at upgrading the energy effectiveness of your home and improving your comfort:
1. Caulking windows
2. Installing weatherstripping around windows and at the bottom of doors
3. Installing water-saving devices (aerator on faucet, energy-conserving shower head, etc.)
4. Adjusting the temperature of the water-heater
N.B.: The work to be done is determined by the technician.
To prepare for the visit, some rules need to be followed:
- Have a copy of your tax return to hand.
- Have a recent heating bill to hand (Hydro-Quebec, Gaz Métropolitan or fuel oil supplier) that contains an energy consumption history.
- Ensure that the person for whom the appointment was made or another adult tenant is present throughout the entire visit.
- Set aside a free space, for example, a table.
- Ensure that doors and windows are accessible to permit the work to be carried out (we recommend that you clean the window frames).
N.B.: Prior to the visit, it is strongly suggested that you order your Hydro-Quebec Energy Wise Diagnostic by dialing 1 800 ENERGY (363-7443). Filling out this questionnaire will enable you to better understand your energy consumption and take advantage of some interesting promotions.
Caution: Since this service is in very high demand, no appointment can be re-scheduled if it is cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice.
Component 2
We also offer you the possibility of having nonprogrammable electronic thermostats installed at no expense.
You are eligible for this component if…
- Your home is equipped with a system of electric baseboard radiators with mural thermostats.
- You have received a visit from an adviser and a technician under Component 1.
- During that visit, you were given you a form. If you are a tenant, you will have to fill out the section reserved for you and give the form to the owner, who will have to fill out his section and state in writing that he accepts the work being done. After you return this form to us, a master electrician will make an appointment with you to carry out the work.
