FAQ

Credit File

Am I obliged to accept someone consulting my credit file?
No. You have the right to refuse anyone permission to consult your credit file. What if they insist on checking your ability to pay, in spite of your refusal? Perhaps could you provide them with a letter from your landlord. or a copy of your credit file (after deleting certain personal information).

If you are refused a product or a service because you would not agree to have your credit file consulted, you can lodge a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information (1 888 528-7741).
