Our Budget Advisers Want To Help

Youth Component

With and for young people

Do you have questions about managing your expenses? Are you wondering how to manage your budget? Do you have questions about retailers’ practices (paying installments, returning goods, etc.)? You’ve come to the right place. Here’s what we can do for you:
  • Help you recognize traps for consumers and manage your personal finances effectively.
  • Equip you with the tools to become an informed consumer.
How? By coming to meet you in your educational institution or your youth group. We offer information sessions on consumerism, budgeting, credit and debt. If you find this interesting, send an e-mail to the youth component.

Also, if you have any consumer-related projects in mind (information center in your school, your student radio or newspaper, research for a project, etc), let us know; maybe we’ll be able to help you carry them out.

Projects

Les Prix du coeur de la publicité: la pub pour penser ou dé-penser
Hundreds of teenagers from high schools and youth organizations analyze television advertisements to see what values they transmit. After that, the Coeur d’or (Heart of Gold) prize is awarded to the ad that is most respectful of consumers, and the Coeur de pierre (Heart of Stone) prize is awarded to the most irresponsible ad.
The Prix du Coeur de la publicité is organized by the ACEF Rive-Sud du Québec with the support of about thirty associations in order to give young people an opportunity to take a position and express their opinions about the values transmitted through advertising.

The general public is also invited to vote on line on the Coeur de la publicité Web site (in french only).
