What is the price accuracy policy exactly?
This is a policy established in 2001 by the Office de la Protection du consommateurs aimed at compensating consumers when the price charged for an article at the cash is higher than the one posted. If the error occurs in relation to an article whose posted price is $10 or less, the retailer must give you the article free. And if the posted price is greater than $10, he must let you have it at the lower price, in addition to offering you $10 in compensation.
For example: the price posted for a compact disk is $20.99 and at the cash, you are asked to pay $25.99. Result? Your purchase will cost you $10.99. You bought several identical articles? You will be charged the lower price for all the articles, except that the $10 compensation will be applied to only to one of them.
A retailer doesn’t respect this policy? You can lodge a complaint with the OPC (1 888 672-2556).
