Repayment from your account

Can the bank repay itself from the employment insurance cheques I deposit in my account?
No. Certain sums are imperceptible, such as employment insurance cheques (except if you owe part of this to the government), family benefits, CSST benefits, old-age security benefits from the Régie des Rentes du Québec and benefits paid by the ministère de l’Emploi et da la Solidarité sociale. However, if these benefits are deposited into an account in which other sums are deposited, it is difficult to determine the origin of the money. We therefore recommend that beneficiaries of State services open an account in which only cheques from such sources are deposited.
