The renovation work I’m planning involves a significant investment. Can the contractor I deal with guarantee the work?
Yes. The Association provinciale des constructeurs d’habitations du Québec (APCHQ) and the Association de la construction du Québec (ACQ) offer guarantee plans covering renovation work. To obtain the protection of a renovation guarantee plan, you must address yourself to a contractor accredited by one or another of these associations. To be protected by the guarantee plan, you will have to pay a premium that varies depending on the total amount of the renovation contract. It is important that you carefully check the minimum amount of work you need in order to profit from the guarantee plan and the steps you have to take to ensure that you covered by the plan.
